Trade Show Trends Dominating 2023

The leading retail trade show in the world just wrapped up in Dusseldorf, Germany and there are some interesting insights to be gained taking a look at this year’s exhibit trends. EuroShop joins the global retail market together to experience the latest trends and developments in retail, with over 80,000 attendees hailing from more than 140 countries. Some trends dominating the show, and expected to dominate across trade shows in 2023, include:
Maximalist design – For a number of years the clean minimalist aesthetic presented a modern and professional appeal, but this year the pendulum is swinging the other way. EuroShop was full of maximalist design, big exhibits, and a certain “larger than life” appeal. Likely due to the scaled down and virtual versions of trade shows experienced in the last couple of years, it’s a way to say “we’re back, and we’re better than ever.”
Oversized accessories, bold fonts, and in some instances entire mock storefronts were created to bring a grand experience to attendees.
Digital interaction – Interaction is part of the fun and the interest at any trade show; allowing attendees to really experience a brand hands-on. The year 2023 is seeing this interaction go digital. Touchscreens, virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive LED screens brought digital into the real attendee experience.
Sustainability – Sustainability is an important buzzword and it’s solidly made its way into the trade show experience. Brands with an emphasis on environmental consciousness enveloped their exhibits in the idea. Sustainable furniture, recycled materials, and eco-conscious exhibit solutions are a highlight for many exhibitors in 2023.
Strategic exhibit design – Exhibit design is taking a strategic turn. A brand with a goal of networking and connection at the trade show will design an exhibit with provisions, comfortable seats, or hospitality area. Brands who really want to get the message across about what their product can do will set their exhibit up to showcase live demos. Those looking to tell a story will walk attendees through visuals, VR, and other digital elements to tell their story in a modern and exciting way. Exhibits in 2023 have a set goal, and exhibitors are making that goal the star of the show.
