Three Tips To Increase Your Email Open Rate

Email marketing has become a critical part of the sales process. This has been especially true during the COVID-19 pandemic when all of our means of communication have turned digital.

However, that means everyone is using email marketing right now, so it is hard to make sure that you stand out in all the noise. Luckily, there are a couple of things you can do that will help increase your open rate and generate more leads. Here are three strategies you can try:

1. Segment Your List

This involves breaking your clients into interest groups. You can segment them based on past purchases, survey results, or demographics such as location. Then, you can send them information that is most relevant to them. This is a good way to measure your market and customer interest base. See to it that you do a lot of research before segmenting to ensure that the messages are truly targeted to their interests.

2. Avoid Ending Up In The Spam Folder

The spam folder is a death sentence for marketers. Not only have you lost the potential customer, but your reputation is harmed each time your email is sent to spam.

To prevent that from happening, check if all of your email recipients have opted in to your emails, and send your emails through a verified domain. In addition, avoid the excessive use of “salesy” emails, which can automatically trigger spam filters.

3. Focus On Your Subject Line

A strong subject line helps you stand out in the inbox and pique the interest of your subscribers. Strive to write enticing subject lines. For example, if you are promoting a sale, mention that right away. You also want to make sure that the subject line has some personalization, such as their name or something they have expressed interest in. You can be funny or even use emojis. Do not be afraid to get creative.

If you are not sure if your subject lines are working, try A/B testing. Send out the same email to your list, but send one half with one title and the other half with a different title. Whichever has a higher open rate is the type of subject line you should use.

Email marketing is a great way to reach your customers when you can’t attend in-person events like trade shows. Following these simple tips will help you get the most out of your email marketing campaigns and increase your open and click rates.
