Creating Memorable Face To Face Encounters At The Trade Show

August 31, 2018

Time spent at a trade show is a great investment and something that could help you get major increases in your sales and leads - and could help you forge stronger relationships with others in the industry. But what many don't realize is that they need to go beyond just setting up an exhibit and handing out some cards or free items. You need to create memorable face to face encounters as well, and if you aren't doing so then you're missing out on a lot of your trade show potential.

Luckily, it's easier to create these memorable face to face encounters than you might realize. Here are some tips that can help you do just that.

  • Create a Great Exhibit - To start with, you have to be able to get people over to your exhibit and make a strong first impression. You'll want an exhibit that showcases your brand, your message, and what you offer.

  • Solve Problems - One of the best things you can do to create truly meaningful situations is to let your exhibitors discuss the needs of each guest. Have them talk to the guests and identify specific problems that they have with their business or their situation. Then, offer them a solution. This approach of 'solving problems' allows you to directly engage with guests while showing them what your business can offer to them.

  • Get Interactive - You can also use interactive elements to get more from your exhibit. Whether it's talking, asking questions, using games, setting up drawings, or something else, try to get those who visit your exhibit involved in some way. It can pay off significantly.

  • Give them Something - Don't just offer solutions, give them something to remember you by. Free giveaway items, entries to drawings you'll hold later on, and contact information can all be instrumental in getting you better ROI from your trade show time.

Don't forget to also get follow up information if you can. Information like email addresses, social media contact info, and more can greatly help you since you'll want to follow up after the show ends. And if you've forged a bond with your face to face encounter, you'll be able to get better results from that follow-up.
