Overlooked Tips For Getting More From Your Trade Show Exhibit

March 23, 2016

When you set up your exhibit at a trade show, you’re trying to reach as many new consumers and business leads as you can while also creating a solid impression in their mind. You need to do a few basic things:

  •         Attract visitors to your booth

  •         Showcase your products and services

  •         Build brand identity

  •         Create a lasting impression so you aren’t forgotten after they leave

Those four things are the foundation of any good exhibit design, and it’s vital that you are able to achieve them when you take the time to head to a trade show. There are plenty of obvious steps people take to achieve them – things like incorporating your logo into design, giving away free items, and product demonstrations are some common examples. However, there are a number of commonly overlooked steps you can adopt as well. Here are some good ones.

  •         Implement social media in new ways. You can use Twitter to make announcements to participants so they can find your booth or know about an upcoming demonstration. Or you can sign them up to your Facebook page to enter them into a drawing or giveaway after the trade show – or during it. Getting creative with social media is something a good exhibit designer should pay attention to.

  •         Tech can do some wonderful things. Looking beyond social media, implementing things like interactive touch screen displays, digital signage, and other new tools can all have a direct impact on your ability to capture the attention of participants and help them remember you.

  •         Giving away trade show freebies has been a hallmark of the industry for decades. But in reality, that only goes so far. You can’t engage with a pen, for example. Instead of focusing just on a freebie as the way to keep a customer’s attention on you, think about how you can connect with them when they leave. Email newsletter lists are a perfect example, but there are plenty of other options as well.

All in all, you need to pay attention to your own goals with your exhibit and then find new ways to wow participants. It’s common for visitors to either be eager young business people, or seasoned professionals who have visited hundreds of shows over their lives, or both. Using old techniques isn’t going to impress them – you need to go further. Our team of exhibit professionals can craft an environment that will help you get the attention you deserve.
